Adjusting the Watering Schedule in Dutch Bucket Hydroponics
I guess asked all the time about how often you should water your plants in a Dutch (Bato) Bucket Hydroponic system. In this video, I talk about how I adjust the timing based on the needs of the plant.

With all the Covid virus stuff going on, a lot of people are getting into gardening for the first time. There are many issues to deal with. In this video, I show you how we deal with drought and lack of rain. As long as you have a good supply of water, you can still make a great garden in spite of the heat and dry weather. Also, we take a look inside the greenhouse and some other things going o...
Huge Monster Cauliflower with Dutch Bucket Hydroponics

This is amazing. My first time trying to grow cauliflower in a dutch bucket style setup was a HUUUUGE success. These things are excellent for hydroponic growing, with results far exceeding my expectations. I turned a snowball into a basketball !!!
Growing Tomatoes in a Trashcan - Dutch Bucket Hydroponics
Переглядів 50 тис.4 роки тому
For everyone interested in Dutch Bucket Hydroponics, please pay attention. The container of choice is virtually irrelevant. What you need to focus on is the overall process of fertilizer and water distribution. In this video, I'm using a 5.5 gal waste basket to grow a First Lady tomato. Pick whatever container suits the plant you're trying to grow, and have fun.

After seeing our backyard Christmas display, we made page 2 in the local newspaper. This is a video that my wife Susan put together so that everyone could enjoy what so many people in our community have seen in person. As Susan always says, I hope it helps.
My Biggest Pumpkin Ever - Hydroponic Finale

Just in time for Halloween, here are the final results of my hydroponic pumpkin grow. Nothing to brag about for sure, but it was the biggest pumpkin I've ever grown. So, from that standpoint, I'm satisfied.
Hydroponic Pumpkin Update - Switched from Kratky to DWC
Переглядів 34 тис.4 роки тому
Here's an update on my first hydroponic pumpkins. I started this process using Dr. Kratky's method, and then switched to DWC. The plants were consuming way more water than I had anticipated. It's been a real struggle with the high temperatures, but we're finally getting some decent pumpkins to form. Hopefully we'll have a few nice ones for Halloween.
Underdog Prevails as Kid Refuses to Give Up in Mudbog
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
Never, ever, give up...this kid could barely see over the steering wheel, taking directions from what appeared to be his dad. Other trucks got stuck and had to be pulled out. But not this kid....he refused to give up. And the crowd appreciated it !
Dutch Bucket Hydroponics - Growing Cucumbers, Tyria and Iznik
Переглядів 43 тис.4 роки тому
If you're looking to grow cucumbers in your Dutch Bucket setup, it's a good idea to find some Parthenocarpic varieties so you don't have to worry about getting help from bees for the pollination. Two varieties I like are Tyria and Iznik. Both are very productive and perform well in a greenhouse environment.
Like Craft Beer ? Let's Grow Some Hops !
Переглядів 22 тис.4 роки тому
If you like craft beer as much as I do, you probably would like to save some money and brew your own. I prefer a hoppy IPA, so I decided to grow some hops, Chinook and Zeus. This is my first time growing hops and it's been a lot of fun watching the plants climb a 12 foot trellis, in a hurry. The next step is to harvest the hop clusters, get them dried out, and start brewing...I think ?

After pruning some Big Beef tomatoes, I rooted the suckers in jars of water. The goal was to get some plants ready to go in the ground in early July. With some extra care and attention, the plants are producing very well.

Turning Nematodes into Hydroponic Pumpkins using Dr. Kratky's method
Переглядів 169 тис.4 роки тому
For the first time, I'm dealing with root knot nematodes. They pretty much wiped out the tomatoes in our small greenhouse. I've done a soil drench with Azagard to get rid of them. In the meantime, let's try something new...growing hydroponic pumpkins using Dr. Kratky's method...just set it and forget. It's still early, but things look promising.

one of the main channels i miss seeing videos from :( hope you and yours are doing well. best of luck to you in what ever you are doing now.
Thank you very much.
Hello. Just found your UA-cam channel. I’m Joe from Springfield Missouri. I watched you how you make a Dutch Bucket out of square 5 gal buckets. I would like a total cost of what you made or total buckets.
He’s not active anymore
We need you two back. Once a month would be fantastic. Talk about anything... That flag at the end was awesome.
I have been saving celebrity tomato seeds and planting them for years. I have always had a good crop and will continue to save and plant them.
They do make seed if you leave one to go yellow while the plant dies.
AMEN
I just set this up for my garden I can't wait until they grow up the trellis! Great video!
Wish you were still making vids! 2024
AMEN BROTHER. WE ALWAYS GREW A BIG GARDEN AND IT FED AL OUR FAMILY AND A MAJORITY OF OUR NEIGHBIRS. IT IS WORK, BUT THE BUT THE SMILE YOU GET WHEN YOU HAND SOMEONE A BASKET OF FRESH HAND PICKED GOODS OFF THE VINE, IS WELL WORTH IT. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE INCAPABLE OR NOT AS WELL TO DO. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. GIVE AND PAY IT FOWARD. ITS A GIFT FROM GOD AND A BLESSING. I WISH EVERYONE HAD THAT MENTALITY. THE WIRLD WOULD BE DIFFERENT, AS WE KMOW IT NOW. SHARE IT, AND TEACH THOSE THAT ARE WILLING, TO DO SO FOR THEMSELVES.
FEED ME SEAMOR ! Lol… (little shop of horrors); I know I saw beets too ? What NPK ratio do you use, do you use the same for beets that you do for cabbage ? With beets, you need clay pebbles or vermiculite to grow in, but with cabbage there’s roots so you don’t need a medium like beets do ?! I love hydro root vegetables; Thanks ; )
I've never done full-blown back to Eden techniques, but I had a couple loads of wood chips delivered over to put in low spots around my fruit trees to decompose and fill in the gaps. Nothing is being bothered by it. When I want to plant something in it, I pull back the wood chips until I hit dirt. Nitrogen is only sequestered in the soil if it is mixed into the soil. Also, in less than 6 months in my climate the wood chips are definitely already on their way to breaking down and everything in the neighborhood looks great.
can i use a covered toat for planting in for set it and forget it lettuce ?
He's posting on Facebook from what I can tell - not sure why there is nothing on You TUbe.
Bobby if you still look at these comments and respond please respond to this comment. I have a question I would like to get an answer to from you. Thank you, Steve Silsbee, Texas
Yes sir, what is your question?
I watched your tribute to Webcajun and I watched both of you. You both have got me into doing hydroponics but I do them outside. I was wondering if you still have your greenhouse and are still using it. You have been a big inspiration to me and I feel the way about you as you did about Donald. I would like to be able to meet you and shake your hand and talk with you and see your set up so that when I buy my property I will have a head start on my set up planning. I’m retired but fixing to go back to work on a couple of months. If you would like to text or talk I can send you my number. Thank again, Steve
Extrañamos sus video mi amigo
I to love the simplicity of how you control the change of your water level. Question: since you have a constant flow of water over the roots, why do you need to maintain any water level? Thanks....
Been planting Rutgers for years. I always have plenty to eat fresh, share and can for the winter. My favorite tomato.
2024, everyone ok?❤
It's 2024, where's dude?
Fucking Awesome video man. Melbourne Austraila!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Keep it up.
Where is Bobby. Has been 3 years since he has posted a video?
"Is there a shorter way to do this (calculation)?" Yes sure - just start using the metrics system 🙂
Espero verte mi buen amigo se te extraña
I love this video, watched it many times. `If 3 is good, how about 6`
I really miss seeing you and Miss Susan's videos. I am ordering another pound of Strike green beans to grow in my cement mixing tubes....and, I got the inspiration from you. My daughter, Ambria, is in a wheelchair and can enjoy gardening on the side deck using Kitty Litter buckets and the hydroponic method YOU taught us. We really miss your wisdom. *Hope it helps* Vivian Ann living 100% off grid on the side of the mountain in northeast Tennessee
Why dont you mention names.
What size grommets can you be more specific
My bucket leaks from the grommets
Well done
But adding water automaticly will change the EC and the ph, how do u manage with??
This is so awesome with some very invaluable information. What are you using for the covering of the greenhouse?
Drill the hole 4 inches high on the bucket the medium will feed the plant only after 1 feeding a day! Thank me later... kinda a dutch bucket/kratky system
Gmo seeds are now available to the general public. They will not stop screwing with our food supply, and Gods earth and creation.
They are fun to grow but for a market grower in Louisiana they will not touch a purple carrot! 😅...
We miss ya Bobby!
Best channel on yt... thanks Bobby
Thanks!
That is a really nice looking crop of beefsteak tomatoes. I started backyard Gardening in 2020 when coronavirus started. This is my fourth year Gardening now, and I have learned lots. This will be my first summer growing beefsteaks.
Tried to email but it came back undeliverable. That’s concerning. I wish you all the success in the world !!! Your videos are fantastic! I will share them with my gardening friends. I hope you get some mailbox money from UA-cam views! I paused the video I’m watching which says it is 11 years old and it is your “how to make a Dutch bucket system”. I had to tell you how fantastic your video is.
great great instruction ! thank you
What water pump do you use for this system?
I haven't seen any new vids from you for a few years now. I sure hope you're doing ok. You're definitely an asset to the community. ;) :) :)
Nice!
Why don’t you post anymore? I miss your videos!
Great Job, I shall build several of your chicken tractors as required for my number of birds
Thanks for this video. I am trying to get this setup here soon.
Will you bless us with an update this year? Any new experiments in the last few years? Miss your garden and your humor.
